In fact, for a person to file a petition for a decree of divorce in Nevada, they must first meet a residency requirement of six (6) weeks, which is very brief compared to many other states. If you already reside in Las Vegas, or anywhere in Nevada, and there are no contested issues between you and your spouse, a divorce could take as little as a few weeks, but there is no court-guaranteed time in which a divorce decree will be signed by a judge. Sometimes, a Las Vegas judge is very busy and may take several weeks to sign a divorce decree even if there are no contested issues, but often it is only a few weeks from the date a “non-contested” divorce petition is filed until the court grants the decree.
